Since UX Day Graz 2013 is a community event, we would like you to participate. Either as individuals or in small groups, we would like you to briefly introduce yourselves and what you do, by presenting in the Community Showcase.
We would like each person or small group to put together a two-minute presentation of themselves and what they do in user experience (UX), interaction design, or usability as a video file (a showcase video).
By "small group" we mean:
- an individual
- a small group of work colleagues
- a small research group
- a small collection of individuals collaborating say on a project
The video might contain, say:
- a screen capture of a few slides
- video clips from one or two projects
- a mixture of the above
17 such 2-minute showcase videos will be placed in a playlist with an appropriate intermission and played non-stop during the session. Presenters will line up in order next to the stage on the left, run up to give their presentation, and exit to the right.
The video should have an audio commentary in English (for later viewing), but the sound will not be played during the Showcase Session. Instead, the presenter(s) will give live commentary as their presentation runs in the background.
The idea is that everyone gets to know everyone else and something about what they do.
We have provisionally scheduled 2 showcase sessions, each with 17 slots. Please fill them up!
Showcase Video Submission
Please prepare and submit your showcase video as follows:
Prepare your video in a commonly used format (with a commonly used codec). We will try to play:
If, for some reason, we cannot play your video, we may have to ask you to convert it to a different format.
The video should be exactly two minutes long and no larger than 200 mb in size.
The video resolution should be at least 640 x 480, and at most 1920 x 1080 (full hd).
The video should include an audio commentary in English for archival purposes (but it will be turned off for the showcase session).
Upload the video to some file space, web server, ftp server, or to youtube and note the URL.
Fill out and submit the Google form at:
with details about your video.
The video will be retrieved and reviewed.
Showcase Session places will be allocated to reflect a balanced selection of topics and groups, the quality of submissions, and the order of receipt of submissions.
We may decide to upload showcase video submissions to the UX Day Graz 2013 web site, or to a video sharing site such as youtube or vimeo. By submitting a showcase video, you grant us non-exclusive rights to use the video in this way. Should too many submissions be received to accommodate them all in the live sessions, we may still opt to place such videos on the web site or a video sharing site.
Showcase submissions may be rejected due to technical limitations or at the discretion of the organisers.
Please direct any questions to the Showcase Chair,
Elmar Krajnc (
The deadline for showcase video submissions was Tue 12 Nov 2013 at 23:59 CET.
